About this Job
The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana
Division: Within the Maintenance Department at ELMHS Located in Jackson, LA
ELMHS is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join the team in the Maintenance Department. Here, the work can come in a wide range of trades, from carpentry to HVAC and more.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
In this role, you will:

  • Direct the sequence of work and assigns tasks to Maintenance Repairer(s).
  • Provide guidance for Maintenance Repairer positions and assists in the training of subordinate maintenance personnel in the following areas, but not limited to: HVAC, welding, plumbing, grounds beautification, and sheet metal.
  • Perform new installation and modification of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment.
  • Clean and replace air conditioner and heat filters, change out heat strips in A/C with heater units, make repairs to window A/C.
  • Fabricate and/or repairs metal parts for pumps, compressors, cooling tower fans, air handlers, and other equipment with the use of lathes, milling machine, or drill press.
  • Repair small appliances, washers, dryers, change out ballast, etc. Perform specialized welding of aluminum, non-ferrous and stainless steel.
  • Maintain a valid, unencumbered driver's license.
