This is a hands-on position that provides supervision, technical guidance and leadership to maintenance technicians, and appropriate service contractors ensuring safe and proper maintenance and repair of plant equipment and systems.
How you will contribute to Smurfit Westrock:
Manage the plant's maintenance program with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventative/predictive maintenance
Supervise Assembly plant Maintenance Technicians; plan, assign and direct technicians' work; evaluate work performance; ensure technicians are adequately trained, equipped and motivated
Assist with the recruiting and hiring process for Maintenance personnel
Oversee Service Contractors performing repairs and equipment installations; responsible for assuring compliance with Rock-Tenn Safety procedures and guidelines, including Contractor Indemnity and Certificate of Insurance requirements
Responsible for maintenance and repair of maintenance shop equipment and tools
Responsible for the performance and documentation of Preventative Maintenance (PM) using the MP2 program guidelines; retain maintenance history of plant equipment
Monitor the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement
Monitor the use and inventories of service/repair parts, maintenance supplies and janitorial supplies and initiate purchases as needed
Assist General Manager in creation of department budget
Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions
Liaise with vendors in order to build knowledge, training and support on the equipment
Assure compliance with WestRock, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations for the use, storage, shipment and disposal of all regulated chemicals and products used in the plant
Direct, maintain and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department; assure compliance with OSHA and WestRock regulations and guidelines
What you need to succeed:
High school diploma or GED minimum with 5 years or more prior Maintenance Team Leader or Maintenance Supervisor experience.
Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, AS400 and MP2 system.
Knowledge of the Assembly operation and maintenance requirements for packaging equipment (auto, semi-auto, manual: shrink wrapping, overwrapping, cartoning, labeling, coding, case taping, check weighing, and stretch wrappers)
Knowledge of Plant/Facility equipment and systems (HVAC, air compressors, lighting systems, power distribution systems, dock equipment, and plumbing) and a thorough knowledge of machine and maintenance shop equipment (drill press, metal saws, mill, lathe, forklift truck, and hi-lift work platforms.
