PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position will lead a Maintenance Team comprised of salaried maintenance supervisors and maintenance technicians to maintain a $300MM manufacturing facility that produces energy saving Fiberglas Insulation.\xc3\x82 The Maintenance Leader is responsible for building a culture with an unconditional stance on safety. The position is accountable to deliver stable and reliable plant operations with a high focus on keeping people safe, developing talent, unparallel quality, productivity, and high machine uptime.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, training, development, and engagement of all maintenance employees.\xc3\x82 They will be accountable in coaching, leading, and driving progress in TPM through the Planned Maintenance Pillar.\xc3\x82 TPM is the way we operate in Owens Corning and the Maintenance Leader will be responsible for driving results and actions through TPM methodology.\xc3\x82 In addition, they must demonstrate a proven track record of leadership and sustained performance associated with plant maintenance programs and operations. Excellent interpersonal skills, high leadership presence, ability to drive change and achieve results through employee engagement are required.

Reports to:\xc3\x82 Delmar Plant Leader and will be a member of the Plant Leadership Team.

Span of Control:\xc3\x82 The Delmar Plant has ~250 employees with 2 manufacturing lines. The Maintenance Leader will lead a team of 5 supervisors & ~38 maintenance and reliability technicians.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

  • Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.
They will have responsibility for:
  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and building a culture where safety is always a priority.
  • Developing risk assessments and safe plans of action for critical tasks
  • Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive to zero incidents
  • Training and developing employees to safely perform their jobs
  • Participates in work area self-inspections and accident investigations as well as recommends corrective actions to make the workplace safer
  • Leads and supports safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries
Metrics
  • Personal Safety Action Plan (PSAP) - implement and review with leader
  • Safety Metrics \xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x93 RIR, First Aids, Near Misses, SAFE, and Critical 6
  • Maintenance Safety Work Order Closure Rate
  • Development and Execution of Plant Maintenance and Reliability Strategy
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement and 5S events in various work areas
  • Leading and Implementing TPM through the PM Pillar
  • Safety for an Injury Free Work Environment
  • Determining Performance Objectives for the Plant & Maintenance Department
  • Ensures maintenance strategy aligns with business strategy and operations plans
  • Improvement plans to drive plant operating performance and equipment reliability
  • People Strategy including talent development and training
  • Maintains maintenance budget including labor, repairs, replacements
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the end-product

  • Control/Reduce Operating Cost: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiencies, streamline processes and leverage resources to reduce cost
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on chronic maintenance issues or repairs
  • Execute effective PM and work order programs using predictive and preventive technologies
  • Have a pulse in day-to-day operations to understand priorities
  • Effectively collaborates and builds strong relationships with production and technical teams

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing/maintenance assignments and experience
  • A Bachelor\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s degree preferably in Engineering, Science, Operations or Business
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical background
  • Knowledge of industrial utilities systems
  • Experience in a union environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Able to engage and care for people starting with Safety
  • Experience leading Reliability Work Process and Total Productive Maintenance preferred
  • Excellent at listening to team, following up on commitments, and building strong teams

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE OC DELMAR FACILITY
  • The Owens Corning Delmar Insulation Plant is a flagship plant within the OC Network that has been in operation for 45 years producing Fiberglas Insulation.
  • The plant operates two production lines 24/7 and employs ~250 individuals.\xc3\x82
  • Since 2020, Owens Corning has invested $60MM+ into the Delmar facility specifically to bring in more automated equipment and advanced technologies.
  • The plant has $300MM worth of equipment assets and is the highest volume producer of residential insulation within OC producing more than 360MM lbs annually.
  • Delmar utilizes the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) operating model. Since 2018, the plant has been on a TPM journey with goals to achieve JIPM Level 1 in the coming years.
