Job Summary:

Operating out of our Western Alabama location, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the operation, coordination and quality control of the current and expanding maintenance shops. The incumbent will provide daily supervision of his/her assigned operation to ensure the organization is supported by delivering a high-quality service that meets the expectations and needs of internal and external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and coordinate a maintenance program for the 3 current terminals and ability to lead with future growth of terminals
  • Oversee daily maintenance shop operations, ensuring a steady and even flow of work through the shop, ensuring the sites are allocating the work efficiently
  • Lead a team of 25+ across multiple sites
  • Ensure the sites are maintaining accurate records of all repairs and maintenance conducted
  • Monitor equipment inventory and ensure orders are placed when necessary.
  • Optimize maintenance department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure fleet is in good condition and sites have adequate equipment related to their work.
  • Generate and provide reports to Management where required, including equipment downtime.
  • Identify deficiencies and correct them across sites with the goal of consistency and compliance
  • Assist in the recruitment process working with Management to attract and retain talent.
  • Evaluate performance and productivity of employees.
  • Determine disciplinary actions when required and work with HR to follow the proper process.
  • Lead the investigation process for workplace incidents.
  • Promoting a safe work environment through implementation and creation of safe work procedures with HSE team.
  • Lead by example by following BME procedures, policies, practices; ensure these are reviewed with employees during daily toolbox talks or safety meetings.
  • Assess hazards in the field and correct in a timely manner.
  • Complete HSE KPIs with inspections and observations.
  • Maintain the PPE and its usage with employees.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain company vehicle as required fuel, oil changes etc.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience in the trucking industry, preferably with similar fleet and sites
  • Previous experience and strong knowledge in Heavy Duty and Automotive Mechanics and leading a shop. Journeyman ticket is an asset but not required.
  • Proficient with relevant programs (ordering, ticketing, work orders, etc).
  • Maintenance software experience an asset.
  • Formal Leadership training preferred
Skills and abilities:
  • Previous experience improving or building a maintenance program (from scratch)
  • Ability to assess and improve current processes will implementing new ones
  • Above average analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Organization and time management skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to drive change in multiple environments (sites) with differing stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask to handle shifting and conflicting priorities, with multiple deadlines, in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, as well as within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment and positive attitude towards the team.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with other employees and our customers.
  • Extensive knowledge of Heavy-Duty Mechanical work, with a focus on highway equipment and flatbed in particular is an asset
