Job Description

The Peabody Essex Museum is one of the nation\xe2\x80\x99s most dynamic art museums encompasses and operates over 500,000 square feet of gallery and public space, including 26,000 square feet of exhibition galleries and 55,000 square feet of galleries devoted to collection installations and interpretation.

We are currently seeking an experienced full-time Maintainer II. Reporting to the Facilities Operations Supervisor, the Maintainer II performs work that includes routine repairs, adjustments and preventative maintenance to hardware and equipment, painting, general cleaning, event and programming assistance, moving office equipment, landscaping and other duties as assigned.

The Maintainer II works 40 hours per week, with their shifts running from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. In addition to working some overtime, the qualified candidate must be available to work occasional weekends, and respond to off-hour emergencies as needed.

This position will operate in both independent and group working scenarios, including but not limited to working with other Facilities department staff, such as members of our engineering team, garden and grounds team and custodial team. Interdepartmental work will also be assigned as required.

Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interface with contractors and vendors as needed in an escort or assisting capacity, overseeing the safe and responsible conduct of those under their escort. The ideal candidate will have experience and proficiency with hand tools, various power tools, lawn and garden equipment, mechanical lifts, and other small equipment and machinery. This position is offering $23.00 to $26.00 per hour pending experience.
