Pre-Employment Testing Requirement

This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. Please read the job description in its entirety for additional information on accessing the assessment. The assessment should be completed by Sunday, July 17, 2023.

About Baton Rouge

Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Our Baton Rouge complex is known for more than its size. In 2016, three of the six manufacturing plants that received Distinguished Safety Awards by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers association were located at the Baton Rouge complex.

What role you will play in our team.

  • A Machine Shop Machinist / Field Machinist is responsible for field and machine shop repairs to mechanical equipment such as: pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, motors, mixers.
  • 8 - 12 hour shifts (days and nights), overtime and responding to call outs.
  • Requires use of machine shop equipment, power and hand tools.
  • Job requires work at grade and heights.
  • Location: ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Complex
What you will do

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Safely perform duties with strict adherence to procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and company policy. Ownership of personal safety and safety of co-workers.
  • Shadowing/supporting Machinists
  • Having a strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
  • Ability to effectively work with others. Candidates are expected to effectively communicate, share information, in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership behaviors - setting high standards of personal excellence and demonstrating these behaviors in work habits including safe work behaviors, work ethic, etc.
  • Operation of machine shop equipment and tools.
  • Field maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of general purpose and major machinery.
  • Repairs to pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, motors and mixers.
  • Read diagrams and blueprints.
  • Operate vehicles, forklifts, overhead cranes, 8 ton carry deck crane, and basic rigging.
About you

Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Successful completion of the ExxonMobil pre-employment Test
  • Safety first attitude and willingness to adhere to and fully utilize the ExxonMobil safety programs
  • Must have 4 years of machinist or millwright experience
  • Currently possess or be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Currently possess or be able to qualify for a valid driver\'s license.
  • Able and willing to work nights, holidays and overtime
  • Able and willing to work in inclement weather, climb structures and perform work at heights.
  • Submit to and satisfactorily complete pre-employment background, medical, and drug screening
  • Maintain required certifications and training that are area or assignment specific.
  • Be able to successfully complete all the requirements of in house 6-month machine training, which includes: classroom training / testing, hands on machinist projects, and rotations to various units.

Pre-Employment Testing Guidance

This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you. Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.

IMPORTANT

The O&M test has been revised. Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment. Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), if you tested before December 1, 2021, you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity. Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position. The assessment is the same for all O&M requisitions. If you have completed the assessment after December 1, 2021, your assessment results will be mapped to this requisition when you try to access the test. Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview. Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
