The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. This role involves working with computer-controlled equipment to produce high-quality products efficiently and safely. The Machine Operator works under moderate supervision and is expected to have or gain full proficiency in operating specific types of machinery.
Essential Job Functions
Set up and operate production machinery according to established procedures
Use computer-controlled equipment to position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines
Adjust machine settings to meet product specifications and quality standards
Monitor machine performance and product quality throughout production runs
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on assigned machinery
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
Record production data and maintain accurate logs
Inspect finished products for quality and consistency
Report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to supervisors
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth production flow
Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Basic understanding of machine operations and safety procedures
Ability to read and interpret work orders and production specifications
Basic math skills for measurements and production calculations
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with specific types of production machinery relevant to the company's operations
Familiarity with quality control processes
Basic computer skills for operating computerized machinery
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing or production facility. The work environment may involve exposure to noise, dust, and moving mechanical parts. Safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes may be required. The job typically involves standing for long periods, as well as bending, reaching, and lifting. Shift work may be required, including potential night shifts or weekends, depending on production schedules. The Machine Operator must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to maintain focus on repetitive tasks while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
