Industrial Associates is seeking a Machine Assembler for 1st shift who can assemble, build, and wire industrial machinery to support our continued growth. Projects are primarily focused on the mechanical and electrical assembly of our Bronco shot blast equipment www.broncoblast.com. This position is located at our Waukesha plant and works alongside some of the most experienced professionals in the company.
Summary
Under the supervision of the Shop Manager, the Machine Assembler supports the assembly, wiring, painting and run off of shot blast equipment. The ideal candidate can observe machines in operation, diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues, and implement effective solutions. This role provides technical input and feedback on machine performance, participates in modifications and improvements, and communicates recommendations back to engineering. The employee works as part of a production team, coordinating with others to achieve on-time project completion within budgetary constraints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Observe mechanical and electrical systems in operation to diagnose and troubleshoot issues, identifying and implementing effective corrective actions
Perform work in a high-quality, workmanship-focused manner
Fabricate, disassemble, repair, assemble, and wire shot blast machines
Install, route, and terminate electrical wiring, conduit, and components according to schematics and safety standards
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, starters, overloads, sensors, and control components
Provide technical assistance to projects as needed
Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment
Weld, cut, and perform general metalworking (drill press, grinder, etc.)
Install, move, and relocate machinery and equipment
Collaborate with Project Teams, peers, and Management to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical guidance
Recommend design modifications to reduce downtime, eliminate machine or system malfunctions, and improve customer experience
Provide timely status updates to the Project Steering Committee
Work with suppliers and contractors during manufacturing phases of projects
Complete required project documentation and contribute to meaningful project control records
Assist with day-to-day shop activities as needed
Maintain strong working relationships with staff, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and co-workers to support seamless system start-ups
Follow all quality and safety regulations
Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager
Required Qualifications
Experience using hand tools and power tools
Knowledge of general machine repair and industrial equipment assembly
Working knowledge of pneumatics and industrial electrical systems
Experience with 110V and 480V electrical systems, motors, starters, overloads, and basic control wiring
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Experience troubleshooting bearings, belts, gear reducers, motors, and electrical components
Forklift experience
Physical | Visual Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to wear required PPE
Ability to climb ladder and work from elevated heights
