Position Summary

The Lyophilizer Engineer will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions for all lyophilizer freeze dryer equipment in current and future operations at the site. This individual will be responsible for all projects and services related to the lyophilizers including the timely completion of repairs while adhering to standard operating practices. In addition, this person will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing Production, R&D, PD and Quality equipment.

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintenance and operational procedures for multiple freeze dryers
• Participate in authoring, review and implementation of corrective actions related to lyophilizer mechanical, equipment or process deviations.
• Use understanding and knowledge of PLC control engineering to participate in making necessary changes in process and mechanical control.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Production, R&D, PD and Quality equipment.
• Design/upgrade of fixtures, machines, and equipment components.
• Lead equipment installations and contract projects with outside vendors.
• Identify and complete improvement projects that reduce machine down time or reduce the frequency of recurring equipment issues.
• Independently update Maintenance Control documents as required to reflect current maintenance requirements, practices, and procedures.
• Train and mentor Manufacturing Technology personnel related to troubleshooting, repair, maintenance tasks, and documentation activities.
• Independently operate/maintain and repair highly technical equipment as well as a broad range of equipment across production lines.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering.
• 3 years related experience or Associates Degree in technical field.
• 5 years experience with lyophilizer freeze dryers.
• 5 years of equipment troubleshooting required with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Special Boiler License required or the ability to obtain one
• PLC knowledge and experience
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical / electrical repair of common production equipment.
• Ability to read machine drawings and schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot down to piece part level.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced Computer skills.
• Responsible for mentoring Technicians and Senior Technicians.
