Job Summary:



The Incidental Lung Nodule Findings Coordinator / PACS Administrator is responsible for coordinating follow-up care for patients with incidentally detected lung nodules and managing the hospital's Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This position ensures timely identification, communication, documentation, and tracking of incidental findings in compliance with national guidelines, while also overseeing PACS workflow optimization, system maintenance, and user support. The role bridges clinical coordination, imaging informatics, and quality improvement to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Reports directly to the Radiology Director.




Performance Expectations:



Incidental Lung Nodule Program Duties: Review radiology reports to identify patients with incidentally detected lung nodules per established inclusion criteria. Maintain and update the lung nodule tracking database to ensure all patients are monitored until resolution or appropriate follow-up. Notify ordering providers of incidental lung nodule findings and recommended follow-up per Fleischner Society or institution-specific guidelines. Serve as liaison between radiologists, ordering providers, pulmonologists, and oncology teams to facilitate timely follow-up. Document all communication, follow-up actions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR). Prepare compliance and quality reports for hospital leadership and cancer committee review. Monitor adherence to follow-up recommendations and identify barriers to timely care. PACS Administration Duties: Manage PACS configuration, user access, and imaging workflows to ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and distribution of medical images. Collaborate with IT and vendor support to troubleshoot and resolve system issues. Provide training and ongoing support to radiology staff, clinicians, and other PACS users. Develop and maintain user guides, quick-reference materials, and workflow instructions. Perform routine system audits to ensure image quality, correct patient identification, and accurate study routing. Monitor system performance and storage capacity, implementing upgrades or clean-up projects as needed. Coordinate PACS integration with EHR, voice recognition, and other imaging-related systems. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and accreditation standards related to imaging informatics.

Qualifications:




Education/Skills:



Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required. Certification in Pacs administration preferred. Masters preferred or Bachelor's degree required in Health Information Management, Radiologic Technology, Nursing, or related field. Equivalent experience considered. Prior PACS administration experience preferred. Knowledge of incidental lung nodule guidelines (Fleischner Society or equivalent) strongly preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in PACS, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.


Work Experience:



Seven to ten years of experience in radiology, imaging informatics, or care coordination.


Certification/Licensure: (DUE UPON HIRE)




American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography. MS RAD License required.
