Primary Purpose of this Position

Summary: You will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents and actively supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs and CMAs in accordance with the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, and all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines to maintain and/or enhance each resident\xe2\x80\x99s quality of care and quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary: You will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents and actively supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs and CMAs in accordance with the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, and all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines to maintain and/or enhance each resident\xe2\x80\x99s quality of care and quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Utilize personal protective equipment, (PPE), in all appropriate functions and settings in accordance with company Infection Control protocols.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate and cooperate with nursing care and other resident services to ensure the residents total regimen of care is maintained

\xc2\xb7 Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility\xe2\x80\x99s quality assurance (QA) program for the nursing department.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in surveys/inspections conducted by authorized government agencies as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Record any new or changed diet orders and ensure that the appropriate information is disseminated to the dietary department.

\xc2\xb7 Chart all communications with the resident\xe2\x80\x99s physicians, other medical professionals assisting with the resident\xe2\x80\x99s care, and the resident\xe2\x80\x99s families.

\xc2\xb7 Receive telephone orders and record them appropriately on the Physician\xe2\x80\x99s Order Form and transcribe physician\xe2\x80\x99s orders to the resident\xe2\x80\x99s medical records.

\xc2\xb7 Assist with the preparation and planning for the nursing portion of resident\xe2\x80\x99s discharge plans and conduct periodic reviews of discharge care plans and make updates, as required. Enter appropriate information concerning unauthorized discharges in the resident\xe2\x80\x99s medical records.

\xc2\xb7 Take and record vital signs in the resident\xe2\x80\x99s charts, among other personal care tasks required by the residents, as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that all medical charting and documentation is complete, and file required forms/charts upon admission, transfer, and discharge.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct routine checks of all resident\xe2\x80\x99s care plans to ensure that CNAs and CMAs are conducting those care plans as outlined by the physicians and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan and the emotional and physical status of the residents.

\xc2\xb7 Complete accident/incident reports, as necessary and ensure that the resident\xe2\x80\x99s physicians are notified of any change in the resident\xe2\x80\x99s conditions.

\xc2\xb7 Prepare and administer medications after first verifying resident\xe2\x80\x99s information in accordance with the 5 Rights of Medication Administration, if/when required. Notify the Director of Nursing, (DON), of any discrepancies with medications, errors with dispensing medication, and/or adverse reactions to medications.

\xc2\xb7 Deliver and maintain a high level of resident care and comfort by ensuring a timely response to all call lights.

\xc2\xb7 Administer professional services such as catherization, tube feedings and suction, as well as apply and change bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags; take blood, conduct range of motion exercises, and care for the dead/dying, etc.

\xc2\xb7 Practice good infection control techniques in all aspects of resident care.

\xc2\xb7 Communicate effectively with the resident\xe2\x80\x99s, their families, other staff members, and management.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain confidentiality of residents and the long-term community records and information.

\xc2\xb7 Protect residents from neglect, abuse, and/or mistreatment, and report any instances of this to the DON immediately.

Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state of Oklahoma.

\xc2\xb7 Must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a background check.

\xc2\xb7 Minimum 1 year experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Long-Term Care environment is required.

\xc2\xb7 Diploma from an accredited School of Nursing is required.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job is required.

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and work cooperatively with other associates.

\xc2\xb7 Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

\xc2\xb7 Must have excellent communication and teaching skills in both individual and group settings.

Physical and Mental requirements: \xc2\xb7 Genuine interest and compassion for caring for the elderly and disabled people within a long-term care community

\xc2\xb7 Ability to lift, bend, climb, reach, push, and pull as required
