Job Description


POSITION SUMMARY:

The LPN is an individual who functions under the general supervision of a RN in providing nursing care through the utilization of the nursing process. The LPN practices within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and the Standards, Policies and Procedures of Carney Hospital. He/she reports to the Clinical Manager or designee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Summary: Under the direction of the RN, contributes to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver safe, therapeutic and age appropriate patient care. The LPN provides input to the health care team to promote wellness, maintain current health, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness.

Minimum Education Requirements: Graduate of accredited School of Practical Nursing. Current MA LPN license.

Minimum Work Experience: 1 year acute care experience preferred

Equipment/Software/Certification/License: General physiologic monitoring and patient care equipment such as defibrillator and cardiac monitor preferred. Basic computer literacy required

Other skills and abilities: Knowledge of nursing process and social, behavioral, biological and physical sciences as normally acquired through completion of an approved practical nursing program.
