Under the direction of RN, has thorough knowledge of principles, methods and techniques involved in performing general nursing duties. Ability to evaluate change in condition and respond to all emergency situations within the guidelines of good nursing practice.

Professional Qualifications
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
Current registration or license in the State of Connecticut
CPR and IV certified.
Thorough knowledge of infection control policies and procedures and universal practices.
Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
Must have knowledge of geriatric nursing with the desire and compassion to practice safe and effective care.
Must be willing to attend inservices and perform a variety of simple tasks, which may not be conducive to strict nursing care.
Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed by the DNS or supervisor.
Physical Requirements
Good physical and mental health.
Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs., bend, sit stand and walk intermittently throughout the shift.
Must be able to read, write, and speak in English in a legible and understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Key Accountabilities:
Demonstrates the ability to contribute to resident care conferences and develop and implement care plans.
Demonstrates ability to maintain safe IV therapy.
Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and ability to use diagnostic equipment, i.e. Protime, EKG, glucometer, feeding pump, Doppler, O2 saturation, etc.

Demonstrates ability to recognize resident's functional limitations and provide teaching and support to the resident and family.
