Alamon has an exciting opportunity for a Low Voltage Structure Cabling Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have a specialization in terminating fiber optic cables.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural/low-voltage cable installation, terminations, maintenance, and repair works.
  • Possess extensive knowledge in all types of low-voltage cabling scenarios including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber termination activities, cable test equipment, and use of all types of cable installation codes and standards.
  • Familiar with and/or certified in BICSI standards.
  • Proven experience in leading cabling crews on large cabling projects.
  • Read and understand construction prints and splice schematics.
  • Experience with and ability to learn several types of copper and fiber splicing and testing equipment.
  • Extensive experience in network equipment installation and turn-up.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with cisco command utilized in loading configs on equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment by complying with local standards and legal regulations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Passion for accuracy.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Working at heights, handling ladders, and pushing/pulling equipment.
  • Strong network configuration and installation background.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • On-the-job training offered.
  • A valid Driver\'s License is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to eighty pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple flights of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to ride in a vehicle for up to four hours to travel to and from job sites.
  • Must be able to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Ability to see color and shading in plans and materials.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
Work Environment:
  • This position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide. Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor work will be based on the scope of the contract.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, gasses, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
  • Where appropriate, wears personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
  • This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the United States for up to 2 weeks at a time.
