Long-Term Substitute Planning Room Director (Anticipated) Needed
Location: Allen Brook School
Allen Brook School has an anticipated opening for a Long-Term Substitute Planning Room Director. This is a temporary job with full time hours starting 11/03/25 and ending 01/05/26. the Long-Term Substitute Planning Room director will be part of our Student Support/Behavior Systems team that plans proactively for and responds to student behavior with a holistic approach including repair work, education, and restorative actions within our school environment.
Responsibilities will include:
Promoting a positive school climate by establishing trusting relationships with students and staff
Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support students, and identify barriers to their learning and the learning of others
Supporting students in crisis who may be displaying a variety of behaviors, which are unsafe for the classroom environment
Manage communications - receiving and responding to requests for support
Collection and input of behavioral data (referrals and CICO) using the different platforms (i.e. Google, SWIS, etc.)
Communicate with staff and students about outcomes of referrals
Implement elements of student instructional and behavioral plans as informed by the Delta Coordinator and administration.
Trained to utilize CPI de-escalation techniques and holds; this includes restrictive behavior interventions in accordance with established CVSD protocols and AOE Rule 4500.
Support Investigations of student interactions such as HHB and Title IX, following procedures as defined by state, district, and local policies
Working collaboratively with faculty and staff to help students learn social, emotional and behavioral self-regulation strategies
Communication with families as needed.
Collecting and analyzing individual and group-based student behavioral data to inform systemic and individualized practices
Supervising lunch and recess periods
Supervising bus arrival and dismissal
The successful candidate is likely to:
Demonstrate expertise and experience in supporting students, teachers, and families with a variety of behavioral, social and emotional issues
Understand the developmental and emotional differences between primary, elementary and middle school students and demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to working with all of these groups in a fluid manner
Have the desire to work on a team and across teams
Have basic knowledge and understanding of Restorative Practices, social and emotional learning and trauma informed practices.
Be willing to have fun on the job and see the Planning Room as a positive and supportive learning environment
Communicate with clarity in-person and in writing
