We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and empathetic

Social Studies Long-Term Substitute Teacher

to join our strong instructional team. The ideal candidate will be ready to help the students we are privileged to serve achieve great things.

Position Overview

Deliver and help plan instruction using approved curriculum, high-impact instructional strategies, subject matter expertise, and current data to meet the needs of all students Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures to foster a respectful, safe, and student-centered learning environment Engage students through a variety of instructional approaches that address diverse learning styles and goals Set ambitious goals; gather, analyze, and use data to measure progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback to students, families, and stakeholders Collaborate with colleagues to support overall school and district effectiveness Engage in ongoing professional reflection and growth to enhance instructional practice and student learning outcomes

Qualifications

At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience preferred Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred Appropriate Maine DOE certification (or eligibility for certification) U.S. citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required

Anticipated Class Load:

Introduction to Psychology Ancient Civilizations SMCC Introduction to Psychology (Dual Enrollment Course)

Terms of Employment:

Compensation and work year are established by the Board in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated in alignment with the Board of School Directors' policy on Evaluation of Certified Staff Members (GCOA).
