Title: LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE - Monroe Elementary 1.0 FTE Speech/Language Pathologist - Pre-K - 5
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, foster communication skills, develop an understanding and appreciation of literature, motivate students to read a wide variety of publications, comprehend the reading materials, and to promote the development of skills in grammar and syntax.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Maintain records as required by law.
Attend meetings and conferences and participates in staff development to promote student professional growth.
Administer standardized tests to students, analyze results, and write detailed reports.
Collaborate with other service providers.
Develop treatment programs for students with a variety of siagnoses to meet their individual needs, interests and abilities.
Review student's yearly progress and write progress reports and annual reports.
Familiarity with articulation disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, fluency of speech, childhood apraxia and pragmatic language disorders.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Work Schedule
Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.
Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
Connecticut State Certification required (#061).
Knowledge of assessment tools for speech-language.
Knowledge of instructional technology and assistive technology related to the needs of students with speech-language disabilities.
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education:
Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
