Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Specializing in Language-Based Learning Differences

Contract

: Early December 2025 -

The Hillside School, a renowned K-8 independent educational institution in Macungie, PA, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Long-Term Substitute Teacher to cover a maternity leave beginning in early December 2025 through April 2026. This role specializes in supporting students with language-based learning differences. The position offers the exciting potential for full-time employment in the 2025-2026 school year, should permanent classroom openings arise.

Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of students with language-based learning differences. Create and maintain a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that encourages academic growth, independence, and self-advocacy. Implement evidence-based strategies and multisensory techniques to strengthen reading, writing, and communication skills. Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to provide comprehensive intervention and student support. Use diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction and communicate growth with families. Build strong relationships with students and parents, ensuring open and supportive communication. Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification). Training or certification in structured literacy programs (e.g., LETRS, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading) is highly preferred. Experience teaching students with language-based learning differences in a school setting. Strong knowledge of literacy development, evidence-based interventions, and differentiation strategies. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to professional growth and a passion for supporting diverse learners. Dedication to ongoing professional development in the field of language-based learning differences.
