We are passionate and excited about how we can shape and inspire changes within an ever-growing marketplace. As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Logistics Shift Team Leader - Bulk Material Handling to join our Atlas Point team.
This will be accomplished by a highly adaptable individual to oversee logistics and material handling operations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and leadership capabilities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant handling of bulk materials.
What You'll Be Doing:
Logistics & Material Handling:
Troubleshoot product transfer issues and ensure smooth operations.
Operate and monitor systems using HMI interfaces.
Manage railcars, box trailers, and bulk trailer operations, including inspections and repairs.
Prepare and maintain daily rail drill sheets.
Implement and enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures.
Coordinate carrier communications for pickups and deliveries.
Oversee warehousing operations, including hazardous material storage.
Manage filling and shipping of pails, drums, and totes to third parties and direct customers.
Ensure compliance with HAZMAT and FRA standards for shipping, receiving, and storage.
Monitor heating requirements for materials.
Collaborate with third-party logistics providers.
Maintain DOT HAZMAT and IATA certifications.
SAP & Inventory Management:
Administer receiving and shipping operations.
Maintain accurate inventory control and perform transactional corrections.
Monitor demand versus tank capacity and manage physical inventory requirements.
Support production of finished goods and intermediates through process orders.
Identify and resolve labelling issues within SAP.
Organizational & Planning Skills:
Develop and update work instructions and procedures.
Communicate and coordinate with Planning, Maintenance, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and SHE teams.
Utilize quality tools to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Create and execute daily work assignments and plan future activities.
Complete daily rail car drills.
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:
Work effectively in a union environment within the framework of the CBA.
Coach, train, and develop team members.
Resolve and de-escalate operational issues promptly.
Provide employees with tools and resources to succeed.
Compliance & Auditing:
Assist with customer, internal quality, FRA, and DOT audits.
Implement corrective actions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
5+ years of experience in maintenance, project engineering, or manufacturing support role
Hands-on experience in an industrial environment preferred
Skills & Capabilities
Strong knowledge of logistics and material handling processes.
Familiarity with SAP ERP systems and inventory management.
Understanding of DOT, HAZMAT, FRA, and IATA regulations.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work in a unionized environment.
