Litigation Legal Assistant
to join our busy
Litigation Practice Group
. In this collaborative role, the Litigation Legal Assistant will provide essential support to attorneys and paralegals in a fast-paced environment, helping to ensure efficiency in workflow and exceptional client service. Key responsibilities include preparing and managing legal documents, coordinating court filings and case deadlines, supporting attorneys with trial and hearing preparation, and serving as a liaison with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. The Litigation Legal Assistant will also assist with scheduling, meeting logistics, and a variety of administrative and office support tasks as needed.
The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of experience as a legal assistant in a litigation practice group, with demonstrated knowledge of litigation procedures and the ability to provide substantive support. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, document management systems, and digital signature services is required, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail, excellent proofreading ability, and strong organizational skills are essential, as is the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Professionalism, collaboration, and accuracy are key to success in this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide legal administrative support to attorneys and paralegals
Proofread, edit, and format documents for accuracy, grammar, and consistency
File legal documents with state and federal courts, electronically and by paper
Assist in tracking and coordination of case events, including court deadlines, mediations, depositions, and hearings
Act as a liaison between clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties
Support trial preparation tasks, including producing and revising trial binders and exhibits
Coordinate meetings, including location and meal logistics
Process incoming and outgoing mail, invoices, reimbursements, time entries, registrations, and similar administrative tasks
Provide rotating reception desk coverage and support other administrative functions as needed
Qualifications
At least three (3) years of experience as a legal assistant in a litigation practice group
Demonstrated knowledge of litigation procedures to possess the expertise needed to perform substantive legal support work
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), document automation, document management systems, and digital signature services
Proficiency in operating standard office equipment (computers, scanners, photocopiers)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external parties
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to proofread for accuracy and clarity
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under deadlines
Basic math skills for transaction calculations and document preparation
Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work with multiple documents and on a computer for extended periods of time
