Job Description

Encore Village of Schaumburg is currently hiring for a Lifestyles Associate. This is a FT position Sunday- Thursday.


DESCRIPTION:



Responsible for the implementation and evaluation of programs to enhance the lifestyles of

assisted living residents under the direction of the Assisted Living Lifestyles Manager. Works

collaboratively with the Resident Assistants, and the Willows and Lifestyles teams to meet the

social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, and physical needs of the residents.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



Sets up and leads recreational activities for residents of Willows Assisted Living

and Reflections (inc. social, active, physical, cultural, creative and spiritual

programs). Is responsible for clean up after each activity.

Prepares materials and plans leadership for assigned programs in advance. Follows the schedule of events and assignments to ensure programs are running

on time and as scheduled.

Encourages resident participation in programs by providing personal invitations,

reminders and/or escorts.

Adjusts program and direction according to resident abilities to promote dignity

and success.

Escorts residents on outings and provides necessary assistance to ensure resident

safety and enjoyment.

Make sure supplies and props are available and/or ordered to create programs,

notifying the manager of supplies needed and/or if supplies are running low.

Maintains workspace in a clean and orderly fashion and cleans and stores supplies

after use.

Follows established practices for infection control and the sanitizing and safe

storage/use of equipment.

Provides and maintains materials for independent engagement and programs led

by Resident Assistants.

Implement ideas and create activity programs for the monthly calendar. Conducts initial interviews with new residents to identify interests and leisure

patterns and build rapport, including conversations with families as needed to

increase understanding of resident preferences.

Documents participation in programs and independent leisure pursuits daily using

the system established by the community.

Promotes active engagement and a welcoming environment through positive

communications with residents, guests and team members.

Escorts Reflections residents and provides supervision for off-unit programming,

following established protocols.

Assists with special events and seasonal projects/decorations.

Life Enrichment Associate AL

Supports departmental programs and goals through clerical tasks as assigned

including printing and distributing calendars, creation of flyers, welcome signs,

birthday recognition, maintaining databases, etc.

Secures necessary funds from Activities Manager for outings and events. Participates in Willows in-service education and training, including disaster drills,

as required by IDPH.

Participates in ongoing training/ developmental training as required by Encore

Village and the Lifestyles department.

Other duties as assigned.

ENVIORNMENT AND PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:



Must be able to walk, stand, sit, lift, bend, reach above shoulder level, push or

pull continuously for long periods of time.

Must be able to manually lift and carry weight of 50 lbs. for occasional periods of

time.

Must be able to remain calm and respond appropriately and quickly to emergency

situations.

Must be able to participate in a 2 person lift technique following Encore Village

polices and procedures in response to resident medical emergencies (this includes

bending, lifting of residents and standing for short periods of time on an as needed

basis).

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS



Education:

High School Graduate. Certification in CPR/First Aid preferred although will train.

Experience:

Experience in senior activities preferred. Experience with audio visual equipment preferred. Able to read, write, speak and understand English at a 6th grade or higher level. Ability to conduct both large and small group activities. Experience with music, crafts, activities, religious programming preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Ability and willingness to work weekend, evening and holiday hours as scheduled. Must display initiative, good judgment and critical thinking, must be flexible,

organized and be able to manage his/her time well. Attention to detail and ability

to follow through without constant supervision is required.

Other Qualifications:

Potential exposure to communicable diseases. Must be able to work with ill, disabled elderly, emotionally upset, and at times,

hostile people within the community.

Needs to be sensitive to the physical, psychological and social needs of the
