YMCA Camp Quinnipiac
Lifeguard at Cheshire Academy
Seasonal - 8:30am-11:30am
Pay: $15.50 per hour

Duties

\xef\xbf\xbd Be professional, courteous, alert and diplomatic. Guard all swimmers; eliminate unsafe practices and physical hazards
\xef\xbf\xbd Maintain general pool rules
\xef\xbf\xbd Administer proper first aid and carry out emergency procedures in the event of an accident
\xef\xbf\xbd Participate as a part of the Aquatics & Camp staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment
\xef\xbf\xbd A lifeguard must be wearing a swimsuit, YMCA staff shirt, and have a whistle and fanny pack with pocket mask at all times. Caps, sweatpants or shoes are not proper attire
\xef\xbf\xbd Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to shift start time and check your area for hazardous conditions and that all your equipment is at your station

Requirements

\xef\xbf\xbd Must be a minimum of 16 years old
\xef\xbf\xbd Possess current CPR, First Aid & Lifeguard certifications
\xef\xbf\xbd Maintain fitness for required certs
\xef\xbf\xbd Be familiar with the YMCA Progressive Swim Program
\xef\xbf\xbd Possess solid leadership and administrative skills
\xef\xbf\xbd Has an understanding of developmental characteristics of people of all ages
\xef\xbf\xbd Has experience working with children & teens
\xef\xbf\xbd Accepts and demonstrates the values of the YMCA (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility)
\xef\xbf\xbd Enjoys working outdoors and understands the potential hazards of an outdoor setting
\xef\xbf\xbd Has the ability to communicate effectively with children, teens, staff members and parents
