Job Description
Monitors swimming area to prevent accidents; provides assistance to swimmers and enforces pool safety rules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain surveillance of swimming pool and surrounding deck area Rescue and administer first aid and CPR as needed Maintain order in swimming areas Inspect pool area for cleanliness and safety hazards Test chlorine or bromine content and pH value of water and add chemicals as needed Enforce MTA's swimming pool rules, regulations and policies Apply Emergency Action Plan when necessary Set up, break down, and store pool deck and safety equipment upon opening and closing Adhere to company memos and safety notices and prepares Accident/Incident reports as necessary Regular and reliable attendance required Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of lifesaving techniques and methods required Knowledge of first aid principals and practices required Must be able to utilize and interpret a chemical testing kit
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma preferred Previous lifeguarding experience preferred
Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess current Lifeguard; Standard First Aid; CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications. Lifeguard training available through MTA.
Must be available to work weekends.
