Marion County is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse for our Medication Assisted Treatment Program. Working alongside other nurses, you will be providing direct care to clients seeking treatment for addiction. Duties include administering medication, educating staff and clients, documentation, and physical assessments. Our multidisciplinary team is dynamic and dedicated to the community.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) operates according to the Oregon State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act. The LPN acts as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, provides direct care services to patients in treatment facilities such as hospitals, institutions, or clinics and in the community to ensure patients\' physical, emotional, and mental well-being; and also provides direct services to prevent disease.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Employees in this class receive general supervision from a nursing supervisor who evaluates work through review of charting and documentation on patient medical sheets, direct observation, and feedback from patients, patients\' families, and physicians. Work performed by employees in this class is governed by: federal and state laws pertaining to illness, communicable diseases, handling of medication, and reporting of child abuse; Oregon Board of Nursing policies and procedures; patient care plans and physicians\' orders; policies and procedures of the agency; and practices of the nursing profession.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class.

Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Administers medications, maintains records on consumers on computer (Methasoft), according to DEA, Federal and State OAR regulations, under direction of Registered Nurse. Observes symptoms of impairment and reports these observations to the Medical Director or nurse coordinator for appropriate action.
  • Performs ongoing review of client records. Monitors Methadone/Suboxone inventory for accuracy and completeness. Identifies medical needs of clients and reports it to Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor. Assist in referrals to community. Educates consumers on health matters, under direction of Registered Nurse or Medical Director. Assists in providing outreach for medication delivery to other treatment facilities or Marion County Corrections facility.
  • Educates consumers and staff on health matters.
  • Completes clinical record documentation in timely fashion. Meets performance expectations for time and billing standards.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.

Requirements for the Position

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING * Graduation from a state accredited school of nursing; AND
  • Must possess a current license to practice as a Licensed Professional Nurse in the state of Oregon at the time of appointment; AND
  • One (1) year of Licensed Practical Nursing experience; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess a current driver\'s license in the applicant\'s state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.   • Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Saturday, as needed, depending upon the needs of the department and program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Comprehensive knowledge of and skill performing, current nursing practice; in basic mathematics.

Ability to apply nursing knowledge and principles and policies underlying the administration of a nursing service; recognize the needs and concerns of individuals in the course of medical treatments; maintain confidential records and information; accept and abide by supervision received; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; skilled in English usage; establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; stoops; reaches overhead; lifts, pushes, pulls and carries up to 10 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 10 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks with a clear and audible voice; reads 12 pt. font.; detects slight odors to help with impairment assessment.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
