Develops and coordinates the library programming and outreach efforts. Provides system-wide leadership for staff engaged in delivering programming and outreach services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science, Information Science, or other ALA-accredited Master's degree, plus four (4) years of professional library experience, of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory or management capacity.
Education may not be substituted for the required supervisory, management, or administrative experience.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops and recommends programs and services to meet the needs of targeted communities.
Oversees the work of outreach librarians, works closely with the management team and library staff on coordinated programming and marketing programs, and services.
Supervises staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning, and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisal, and discipline.
Prepares and administers annual budget request for library materials and programming, and monitors expenditures.
Promotes, publicizes, and implements programs, services, and events that encourage students to become active and engaged library users.
Creates resources in real and virtual environments to provide multiple opportunities for teaching critical information literacy skills and library resources.
Provides excellent innovative library programs and outreach services.
Assists in developing, providing, and evaluating information, technology, research, and instruction assistance to students.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, and sit to use a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
Extensive travel in the service area and early morning and evening, and weekend meetings, activities, and assignments are required.
