Library Director

The City of Belfast, a vibrant, development-focused community of 7,000 located in midcoast Maine, seeks a full-time Library Director. This position performs essential duties for the Belfast Free Library including the daily operation of the Library, scheduling, policy development and implementation, budgeting, accounting of operating expenses, supervision, evaluation and development, building maintenance and planning.

The successful applicant must have the ability to complete planning, coordinating and operating of all aspects of the Library, working collaboratively with the City Manager, City Council and Library Board of Trustees to formulate goals and objectives of the Library. The salary range for this position is $75,504 to $93,308 in addition to a competitive benefits package. The work schedule will regularly include some evenings and Saturdays. Applicants must have considerable experience in the operation of a library, including internal administrative and developmental activities; graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
