The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Librarian position. This position is based out of Jackson Correctional Institution (Black River Falls, Jackson County) .

Position Summary

This position directs the library program of the Jackson Correctional Institution. The incumbent is responsible for the operation of the institution library media center and law library; provision of library services to Persons in Our Care and staff; development and maintenance of book and other material collection; provision of reference and information services; and provision of miscellaneous programs and services to Persons in Our Care and staff.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 13-04 with pay starting at $21.80/hour .
Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.
A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
All state employees must report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have:
Experience performing librarian duties (maintaining library collection, classifying and cataloging library materials, etc.)
Experience using computer technology and programs (computers, printers, and programs such as Microsoft Office, etc.)
Experience providing information (regarding policies, reference/resource material, etc.) to employees or customers.
