These positions are time-limited, grant funded, full-time. Funding for these positions will end on June 30, 2026.
The Office of the District Attorney, Mecklenburg County, seeks two (2) qualified individuals to provide support services for the office attorneys. Perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to legal document preparation, heavy typing, criminal case management, file preparation, answering telephone calls and daily filing. A successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills. This is a county contract position that will end on June 30, 2026.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of: court system and procedures; legal terminology; and community resources to refer victims and witnesses.
Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; accurately typing 35-40 wpm; and answering a multi-line telephone system.
Ability to: interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services; coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program; manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed; communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public; and calmly handle stressful situations.

Minimum Education and Experience

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate and two (2) years of legal secretarial experience.
Management prefers candidates with experience as a legal assistant with knowledge of court procedures; considerable experience with Microsoft Office products and Outlook is desired.
