University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College, Health Sciences Department is seeking applications for the Community Health Worker part-time lecturer position. : For placement into the lecturer pool beginning Spring 2026. Subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.



Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses in the assigned subject area; Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress; Assess student learning in terms of course competencies and program learning outcomes; Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations; Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area; Maintain one office hour per week for each class taught (20 minutes per credit per week). Classes may be offered online, evenings and/or weekends, on campus at KapCC or at locations in the community.

Minimum Qualifications



Master's in any field

AND

2 years of experience in developing and delivering community health education programs;

OR

Master's in a health-related field, of which 15 credits are in Community Health;

OR

Bachelor's in any field

AND

5 years experience in developing & delivering community health education programs;

OR

Bachelor's in a health-related field of which 15 credits are in Community Health

AND

3 years of experience in developing & delivering community health education programs.

Desirable Qualifications



Five or more years of work experience as a community health worker or working on a team with community health workers. Instructional work experience at the community college level, or work experience instructing adult learners. Work experience related to community-based participatory research, advocacy, counseling for change, or community case management. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively. Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
