About us

Wabash Area Development, Inc is a community action agency. We serve 7 counties in Southern Illinois. The Head Start program offers home base and center settings and serves pregnant women and children ages birth to age 5.

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead /Center Teacher to join our Head Start team. As a Lead/Center Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality education and care to our students. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children. Must work toward compliance in all facets of the Head Start program performance standards and DCFS regulations.

Duties:

- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum

- Create engaging and interactive learning experiences for students

- Provide a safe and supportive learning environment

- Manage student behavior and promote positive discipline techniques

- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff

- Conduct regular assessments to track student progress

- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive educational program

- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and parent conferences as required

Experience:

To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:

- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field. If without a completed degree, must be willing t cmplete in a negotiated time period.

- Salary based on salary schedule, education, & experience. Salary schedule will be available to applicants prior to an interview.

- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices

- Familiarity with behavior management techniques

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively plan lessons

- Experience in curriculum development and implementation

Requirements:

- Bachelor's/Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)

- A criminal background check will be conducted.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.73 - $20.01 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
