The Lead Specialist for Academic Program Success plays a strategic and collaborative role within the Office of Community, Access, Retention, and Empowerment (CARE) in the College of Engineering. The role will design, implement, and manage academic program initiatives that support undergraduate students, with a particular emphasis on math and science academic recovery, resource readiness review, and targeted advising interventions for enrolled students within the College of Engineering (COE) and Knowlton School of Architecture (KSA). This position plays a pivotal role in advancing institutional goals related to student persistence, academic achievement, and graduation outcomes.
In collaboration with the Director for Student Success and other Community, Access, Retention, and Empowerment (CARE) staff, the position will lead the development of outcome driven academic programming to support undergraduate well-being and success, which may include, but not limited to, course development, formulate academic interventions aimed at increasing student performance in gateway courses, designing an academic recovery program for students enrolled is summer session courses, teaching a credited academic recovery course for students on probation, or facilitating workshops for students returning from academic dismissal.
Collaborate with the College of Engineering Scholarship Team to facilitate affordability workshops and micro learning activities to help students understand college costs and develop proactive resource management, facilitate learning experiences that integrate the University's 10 dimensions of wellness, and implement targeted advising interventions for students experiencing challenges into student success programming, and provide individualized support and referrals to appropriate campus resources.
In addition to academic recovery support services, the position will also be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting academic program outcomes to inform continuous improvement and strategic planning. Conduct surveys and assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and student impact, ensuring the CARE initiatives remain responsive and impactful. Provide direct supervision and oversight of professional staff and student employees to ensure compliance and adherence to university policies and procedures.
Additional Information - May be required to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel. The position involves significant interaction with other people, including students, staff, faculty, and university administrators, and a remote or hybrid schedule is limited.
