We are seeking a Lead Scientific Operations Coordinator to oversee laboratory support functions and team coordination within our Analytical Sciences department. This role blends hands-on lab operations with leadership responsibilities, ensuring smooth workflows, compliance, and a safe, efficient lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations

  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies, reagents, and media.
  • Safely handle compressed gases and cryogenic liquids.
  • Clean and monitor controlled temperature units, fume hoods, and biological safety cabinets (BSCs).
  • Use electronic systems to track equipment maintenance, calibration, and workflow coordination.
  • Manage paper lab notebooks and logbooks, including updates and reconciliation.
  • Support recurring equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Ensure lab spaces are clean, organized, and properly labeled.
  • Complete all required safety and procedural trainings.
  • Perform duties in areas handling potent chemical compounds.
  • Participate in weekend and overtime scheduling as needed.
Team Leadership
  • Manage and coordinate daily workload across the lab support team.
  • Monitor and report productivity and quality metrics.
  • Conduct routine safety walkthroughs and compliance checks.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Deliver training and mentorship to staff across the department.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Life Sciences or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet physical demands including:
  • Routinely lifting objects of 25 lbs. or more
  • Walking and standing for extended periods
  • Pushing/pulling carts and equipment
  • Bending and reaching for supplies
  • Knowledge of cGMP practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn new processes, multitask, follow instructions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Additional Information

Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, First Shift, Monday through Friday from 8 am-4 pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Rensselear, New York, are encouraged to apply
