Reports to:

Building Principal

General Summary:

A lead paraprofessional focused on elementary literacy; assists certified teachers in providing a safe learning environment where children's individual needs are met.

Essential Functions:

Works as a team teacher during the guided reading block in grades K-3



Communicates with the classroom teacher on student progress



Leads guided reading groups



Monitors recess and lunch time



Works with grades 3-6 to meet RTI services in the afternoon



Works closely with intervention team to monitor and assign intermediate intervention



Communicates with the classroom teacher and interventionist on student progress



Makes new arrangements for guided reading groups when paras are absent for an extended period of time



Organizes paraprofessional schedules



Responsible for sending out communication from teachers to paras regarding schedule changes and cancellations



Assists in lunch and recess duty where needed



Organizes book room and teaching resources



Oversees organization and check-out of math cupboard resources.



Keeps stock on Title I supplies



Restocks F&P Kits



Maintains leveled library inventory



Assigns additional responsibilities when time allows



Contacts District Title 1 Coordinator for new hires



Point person for new hires and para check-in



Title I Time and Effort Logs



Interacts respectfully with staff and parents.



Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.



Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma (minimum),

Required:

48+ college credits/Associate's Degree/ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment

Experience:

Evidence of experience working with students

Length of Position:

36 weeks
