Position Summary
You will provide expertise and strategic guidance on a wide range of projects and interact closely with cross functional teams to drive the introduction of new technology and new equipment to support new and existing products as part of a global team.
What You Will Do
Scouting, researching, testing and validating new technology and equipment for manufacturing operations
+ Stay up to date on new technology and equipment through trade publications, tradeshows, conferences, webinars and regular follow-up with vendors and suppliers
+ Leading the testing of new technology and equipment to assess and validate performance and quality requirements
+ Leading the development and approval of business cases to introduce or upgrade technology and equipment for Vistaprint's manufacturing operations
Leading and managing the introduction of new technology and equipment for NA manufacturing operations
+ Manage the project schedule and budget
+ Establish technical specifications and requirements for the new technology and equipment
+ Calculate, plan and lead installation of utilities to support new equipment and existing equipment moves.
+ Plan and lead installation of equipment and overall setup of new production areas to support new equipment installations.
+ Lead and obtain equipment safety sign-off by ensuring that all applicable safety regulations and company policies are adhered to.
+ Lead acceptance tests (FAT, SAT) for new technology and equipment
+ Coordinate and support new material qualification and colour setup for new technology and equipment
+ Plan and support training of new equipment / processes.
+ Lead and support launch and ramp up of new equipment
Acting as the in-house technology expert
+ Develop and maintain Vistaprint's technology roadmap for assigned area of expertise
+ Consult with and assist other MTech members with technical challenges for New Product Introductions
Build and maintain strong work relationships with stakeholders in the Manufacturing plants, Global and Local Purchasing, Product Category Teams, etc.
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in engineering with minimum of 8 years work experience or equivalent, to include experience evaluating and installing new technology and equipment. Experience in the printing industry is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge and practical experience with:
+ CAD software
+ Financial analysis and decision-making
+ Statistical analysis techniques
+ Managing projects end-to-end.
Ability to manage multiple projects, must be able to work independently as well as in a team and be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels and functions of the organization.
Strong technical skills, strategic thinking, leadership skills and a strong business acumen.
Ability to travel to vendor locations and other sites for equipment evaluation. Most travel will be within NA, but occasional travel to other international locations might be required.
