Job Description

The Lead Field Operator plays a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and operation of SLUD's water meter infrastructure, water distribution, and wastewater collection systems. This position requires technical expertise, leadership, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Lead and participate in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems. Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members. Oversee meter, wastewater, and water distribution control processes. Assist in preparing monthly compliance reports. Maintain and repair system components in accordance with regulatory standards. Manage daily field activity reports and work orders using Beehive software. Inspect and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure readiness. Enforce safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and traffic control measures. Restore work sites and landscaping after project completion. Operate SCADA systems and control equipment to meet quality standards. Conduct tailgate safety meetings and promote a safety-first culture. Operate light and heavy construction equipment as needed. Communicate professionally with internal and external customers. Maintain accurate logs and records to support operational efficiency. Organize tools and supplies for field assignments. Create service requests and coordinate maintenance for treatment assets and lift stations. Monitor facility security and report breaches to appropriate authorities.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred. Experience in water/wastewater systems or utility fieldwork. Ability to operate construction equipment and SCADA systems. Strong communication and leadership skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.

Base Pay: $20.00 - $36.00 per hour
