Lead Barista

As Lead Barista, you will not only craft exceptional coffee and beverage experiences but also set the standard for service excellence in our cafe. This role is hands-on and leadership-driven: overseeing opening and closing checklists, ensuring service flows efficiently, and maintaining the highest levels of quality and consistency. You will coach and support baristas on the floor, reinforce best practices, and uphold the brand promise of warm, engaging hospitality. In addition, you'll play a key role in inventory management, par levels, and operational readiness, helping position Smith Tower Visitor Services and Caffe Vita as a premier destination for both daily business workers and visiting guests.



What's you'll do:



THE BRASS TACKS

Provides exemplary guest services in the cafe with a magnetic personality to ensure a positive coffee, food, and wine/beer experience. Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages including coffee, tea, specialty drinks, beer, and wine while upholding brand standards through quality control. Maintains standards of operations ensuring all daily checklists are completed. Ensures eloquent and attractive food and beverage presentation. Describe menu options and be knowledgeable about beverage products to make appropriate recommendations to guests. Ability to use a point-of-sale system to ring up all orders and to execute online orders. Maintains cleanliness in and around the cafe area. Provides a positive and team centric work environment, and coaches baristas on service and standards techniques. Assists management with incoming orders, inventory, and proper food safety reporting. Adheres to established safety and quality standards daily through city, county, and state health guidelines and standards. Administers state liquor laws and ensuring all laws, regulations, and standards are being adhered to. Other duties as assigned by management.

THE NITTY GRITTY

Previous barista experience in a similar environment strongly preferred. Lead or supervisor experience a plus. Able to perform essential functions on a computerized Point of Sale System Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell Required valid WA State Food Handler's Permit and MAST Permit and understanding all applicable liquor laws and regulations The ability to communicate independently, clearly, and effectively Must maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to lift (25+) Pounds Basic math skills required
