National Salvage and Service is seeking to hire a

Laborer

which is based out of our Yard in Birmingham, Alabama.


National Salvage & Service is a sustainable company, we recycle nearly all the material we salvage. This practice not only keeps these materials out of landfills, improving the environment; it also saves our customers significant amounts of money, reducing the cost of a job and adding to profit.


National is a leading wholesale provider of used railroad ties and new railroad ties and other treated hardwood railroad track products, as well as recycled utility poles.

Job Classification:


Non- Exempt Daytime Hours (Variable) Monday - Saturday Full Time (Hourly) On-Site Role

Essential Job Functions:


Removing debris from grinder and surrounding areas to keep area clean at all times Use of shovels, sledgehammers, and ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time Power tool and skid steer operation Collaboration with team members and participation in safety briefings Wearing personal protective equipment is required at all times

Qualifications:


Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to consistently work 60 hours per week, ability to work most half-days on Saturdays Must be able to repeatedly lift 50 pounds Follow all Safety Programs, Policies, and Procedures Must work well with others on a team Standing, walking, and bending over repeatedly National Salvage will comply with LSA-R.S. 23:291.2 Physical Requirements: Stand, Walk, Climb, Bend, Twist, Move Throughout the Day, Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements, walk on uneven terrain, Lift 50 pounds, and Exposed to Loud Noises. You will be exposed to all weather elements.
