Job Summary



The Pellitier lab is seeking an outstanding candidate to assist in both the field and laboratory operations. The applicant will generate high-throughput fungal amplicon datasets from existing and new samples collected in the field. Additional tasks will include setting up and maintaining a large experimental greenhouse trial using Pine seedlings, and the maintenance of a fungal culture collection. Applicant will be expected to develop proficiency with bioinformatic and statistical methods in R. Additional tasks include organizing and ordering lab equipment and development of molecular and other protocols for the laboratory. Applicant is expected to contribute to lab meetings, and the mentorship of undergraduates engaged in the SRI program. There are opportunities for publication and career development. A background in community, biogeochemistry and plant or fungal biology is required.

Responsibilities



Laboratory Technician, II



Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Mid-level support role. Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.



Requires at least 1 year of related experience.



Laboratory Technician, III



Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Senior-level support role. Completes assignments with little supervision. May assist less-experienced team members.



Requires 3+ years of related experience.



Laboratory Technician, IV



Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Highest-level support. Performs advanced tasks under minimal supervision. May mentor less-experienced team members.



Requires 5+ years of related experience.



Minimum Qualifications



EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :



1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
