The Laboratory Manager is essential for ensuring the labs runs efficiently, effectively & safely. The role manages Process Sciences, Analytical Development, Drug Product Development and Cell Line Development laboratory spaces, and supports approximately 100 scientists. Core activities include equipment calibration checks, stock management, and a variety of standard activities essential for a highly functioning laboratory. Key responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and compliant operational performance in Process & Product Development (P&PD) laboratories.
  • Work with leadership and EHS function to ensure appropriate safety protocols are in place.
  • Author and maintain general lab operations policies, work instructions, and training programs.
  • General management of lab services and equipment including but not limited to utilities, cold storage, autoclaves, glassware washer, purified water, monitoring and alarms, fume hoods and BSCs, incubators, general lab instruments and tools.
  • Work with F&E to manage overall strategy and measure delivery of verification, calibration, maintenance and qualification of equipment across the Process Development organization.
  • Responsible for the management of lab services contracts & measuring the delivery of these contracts. Such contracts are expected to include, but not limited to: laboratory equipment service & maintenance, cleaning, 3rd party service providers and vendors, laboratory software licenses and laboratory facility related service providers.
  • Responsible person for the P&PD group in interactions, requests and projects with Facilities & Engineering, Capital Projects, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, EHS, IT and Finance related to lab management.
  • Motivate the team to work together, delivering high levels of \xe2\x80\x9cright first time\xe2\x80\x9d and adhering to compliance requirements, so that high laboratory standards are maintained.
Position Requirements
  • MS and 3 years of relevant experience or BS and 5 years of relevant job experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with good communication and attention to detail essential.
  • Significant laboratory management experience, understands what is required to maintain high standards at all times.
  • Experience working with cross-functional technical, quality, facilities, EHS and supply chain teams.
  • Experience working with suppliers, vendors and service providers.
  • Experience with laboratory operations, laboratory design and workflows.
  • Contribute to and maintain Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Performing lab and area inspections to maintain high levels of quality, safety, efficiency and cleanliness.
  • Experience with CMMS a plus
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $70,000 to $96,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual\xe2\x80\x99s skills, experience and competitive market value.
