The role you\'ll contribute:

Assists in directing daily activities of the Laboratory Department has the authority and responsibility for ensuring quality patient care by effectively managing the laboratory information system. Directly and indirectly supervises all laboratory staff. Responsible for assuring that supervisors and staff adhere to the Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies and to the standards of all accrediting bodies. Assists in hiring and training new personnel and competency assessment and development. Serves on committees and performs special projects as requested. Performs research and gathers, analyzes, and presents data as required for assigned projects. Assists in the development, interpretation, and application of departmental policies, procedures, budgets, and long-range planning. If requested, assumes the responsibilities of the LABORATORY DIRECTOR. Assists in problem solving for customers and staff. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you\'ll bring to the team:
  • Responsible for supervising, updating, trouble shooting and coordinating the General Laboratory, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Outreach and Pathology modules of the laboratory information system.
  • Reviews and updates LIS policy and procedure manuals. Assures compliance with all CAP regulations regarding LIS.
  • Develops reports to aid in the monitoring of laboratory activities. Performs research and gathers, analyzes, and presents data as required for assigned projects. Serves on committees, as needed.
  • Coordinates the ordering and receiving of all laboratory reagents and supplies. Meets with sales representatives and reviews and compares charges from various vendors to obtain optimal pricing. Resolves invoice discrepancies and reviews purchasing alliance contracts.
  • Reviews reference lab charges to ensure correct billing. Provides test name, mnemonic, charges, CPT code and suggested billing number for new tests to be added to the CDM.
  • Indirectly supervises all laboratory staff. Performs staff evaluations, interviews, and counseling, as needed. Assists in hiring and training new personnel and competency assessment and development.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to succeed:

Required:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 2 years of laboratory Information System experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of training in an accredited medical technology or medical laboratory sciences program is required.
  • State of Colorado license for Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Laboratory skills to obtain specimens from infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and to perform laboratory testing.
  • Must have knowledge of all department functions as needed for supervision and direction of staff. Excellent communication skills, as well as knowledge of CAP, AHCA, CLIA, JC and OSHA regulations.
  • Extensive Laboratory Information System knowledge.
  • Extensive interface and auto verification skills.
  • Microsoft Office skills such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
  • ASCP certification
