We have a wonderful opportunity for a Lab Logistics and Transportation Specialist to join our Lab Trans. Services team at Bloodworks Northwest. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting all Bloodworks NW departments and Hospital customers by providing reliable and efficient transportation services and managing the receipt and distribution of incoming shipments to ensure an accurate audit trail while positively representing Bloodworks NW to internal and external customers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiently perform all assigned courier duties including transporting blood-related products, supplies, and business-related materials between Bloodworks NW labs and its local area hospital clients as described in the Courier I and II s.
  • Ensure full compliance with the standards outlined in the Bloodworks Vehicle Safety and Training Policy when operating or riding in company vehicles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas:
  • Receiving requests for routine and emergency testing
  • Evaluating specimens and requests for patient identification and suitability for pre-transfusion and other serologic testing, following laboratory policies.
  • Accurately maintaining an audit trail for incoming and outgoing packages and calls.
  • Meticulously performing data entry for patients and donors into appropriate databases.
  • Troubleshooting unacceptable specimens and appropriately documenting outcomes.
  • Coordinating with dispatch personnel for local and regional transportation of outgoing packages.
  • computer systems relevant to the work performed in the department at this level including, Access, BBCS, ETQ reliance, and PC applications.
  • Report incidents involving unusual circumstances or failures to follow standard operating procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year of customer service and/or data entry experience.
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS include, but are not limited to:
  • Required physical activities include standing, frequent entering, exiting, and driving various BWNW vehicles, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, pushing, pulling, and lifting articles of various shapes, sizes, and weights. Required physical activities used less frequently include bending, and reaching (used occasionally); stooping, and kneeling (used rarely).
  • The ability to operate a motor vehicle, push and pull up to a maximum of 250 lbs at a time.
  • To obtain access to some client facilities, the incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain clearance to access the client property. This clearance process may require the incumbent to undergo additional levels of screening beyond Bloodworks\xe2\x80\x99 required pre-employment screening.
  • The position requires some overtime, on-call status (occasionally), evening meetings, and heavy lifting (rarely).
  • Significant manual dexterity is required to operate various instruments and to perform required data entry quickly and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Attention to detail is critical
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Telecommuting is not offered in this role.
  • As this is an essential position with direct responsibility to donors and/or patients, the incumbent should be prepared to work extended and/or consecutive shifts and/or possibly at a different location during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts/hours.
  • Job conditions to be expected include some overtime, and on-call status (frequent); occasional standing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • This position has direct exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
