About the Role:
As a Laboratory Assistant at Quincy Medical Group, you will play a critical role in supporting laboratory operations and patient care. You'll assist with specimen collection, processing, and documentation, ensuring accurate and timely results for providers and patients. This position provides hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting while contributing to efficient and high-quality lab services.

Primary Responsibilities:
Collect patient specimens including blood, urine, and other samples following proper protocols.
Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for analysis or transport to reference laboratories.
Perform basic laboratory tests and point-of-care testing as directed.
Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory, including calibration, cleaning, and proper storage.
Document results, maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.
Follow infection control, safety, and hazardous waste procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Support laboratory workflow by assisting with data entry, report preparation, and specimen organization.
Provide excellent customer service to patients and clinical staff, including patient preparation for lab procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory and clinic operations.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
CPR certification required (available upon hire).
Prior experience in a laboratory or clinical setting preferred but not required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and specimen handling protocols a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Comfortable working with patients and performing repetitive or precise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
