Summary
The University of South Alabama's Biological Resources department is seeking to hire a Laboratory Animal Technician I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Provides routine animal husbandry in accordance with written and verbal instructions. Feeds and waters animals daily per procedures. Changes and washes soiled cages. Cleans and repairs feed troughs, pens, cages, and other animal care facilities. Observes animals for signs of illness or injury and reports abnormalities to supervisor. Observes and records animal room environment and conditions. Collects and labels fluid or stool samples for diagnostic evaluation. Prepares and maintains routine records such as animal count, identification, weight, medication, and food consumption. Under supervision, provides minor technical assistance and handles and manipulates animals according to instructions. Unloads and stores feed and bedding materials. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. Related duties as required.
