Lab Technician Position Purpose and Objectives



Support formulation and development of oral solid dosage forms. Conduct lab-based testing, equipment setup, and documentation across various formulation stages. Collaborate with formulation scientists to execute data collection, inventory control, and technical reporting for development projects.

Lab Technician Essential Job Functions



Perform and record bulk and tapped density, flow rate, and angle of repose for materials to optimize powder, capsule, and tablet formulations.

Conduct moisture, particle size, and blend uniformity checks as required.

Maintain organized and accurate data logs, ensuring timely updates to shared systems and databases.

Verify and calibrate laboratory instruments (balances, flow meters, density testers) according to SOPs.

Evaluate new raw materials or alternate suppliers in coordination with Product Development (PD).

Prepare and label customer samples and R&D submissions; maintain sample log sheets and shipment records.

Ensure traceability and proper storage of all samples, order raw materials through the Pharmacy, and maintain reference materials.

Generate summary data sheets, organize results, and support preparation of technical reports.

Follow all GMP, GDP, GLP, and safety protocols while working with powders, chemicals, and equipment.

Maintain a clean and compliant lab environment aligned with internal SOPs.

Report deviations or unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor.

Assist formulators with sample preparation, premix blending, and pilot batch manufacturing for scale-up and initial production runs.

Collect and report critical parameters such as blend time, flow, compression, and coating performance during pilot and technical trials.

Lab Technician Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required



Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Familiar with laboratory test methods (density, flow, particle size).

Strong analytical and record-keeping skills; attention to detail.

Effective verbal and written communication across departments.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced technical environment.

None

Lab Technician Working Conditions



Dynamic, fast-paced technical environment. May require occasional movement between Parsippany and Caldwell facilities. Routine exposure to powders and lab testing environments with appropriate PPE.

Minimum Qualifications



College degree in Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field.

1-3 years of prior laboratory or manufacturing experience in nutraceutical, food, or pharmaceutical settings preferred.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
