Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Support Lab Assistant to assist Pathology/Histology staff with specimen accessioning, reagent management, slide preparation and delivery, archival filing, and supply coordination. This role ensures accurate data entry, specimen labeling, and excellent customer service for patients, physicians, and medical staff.


Hiring Range: Typically $20/hr to $24/hr, depending on experience.


Key Responsibilities



Accession specimens and verify demographics Manage tissue processor and H&E stainer reagents Label, deliver, and file slides and cassette blocks Maintain lab instruments, work areas, and biohazard disposal Perform CLIA-waived testing and competency assessments Monitor temperatures, track reagents, and manage supplies Provide responsive support to pathologists and staff

Skills & Abilities



Strong knowledge of histology techniques Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask, prioritize specimens (STAT, ASAP, Routine, Pre-op), and troubleshoot issues Critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills Team-oriented yet able to work independently

Education & Experience



High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Science preferred. Minimum of two years' experience working in a healthcare laboratory, and/or combination of education and experience in phlebotomy/lab sciences required. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Detail oriented and organized.
Pay Range:


$19.70 - $27.58

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
