Position Summary:

The Conrad Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute is seeking a Lab Assistant I to be a contributing member of the Cell Biology team. The candidate will be asked to perform a variety of tasks. Primary duties include but are not limited to working closely with the scientists in the Cell Biology group, assisting with routine laboratory experiments, preparing media as directed, maintaining iPSC cell cultures, and performing other lab tasks as directed.

This is an exciting opportunity to directly support scientists focused on biomedical and drug discovery projects with an end goal of ultimately benefiting patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists scientists in laboratory experiments as directed Performs routine laboratory tasks and experiments as directed Supports iPSC cell cultures as directed

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Requires a High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Prior laboratory experience of college level cellular biology science courses are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

Ability to learn and use new techniques, instrumentation, and software is essential. Be responsible, organized, motivated and a problem solver Ability to work positively and enthusiastically as part of a team Have strong time management skills Possess strong attention to detail Demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency with PC Operating Platforms and Microsoft Office Embody the Institute's core values of Commitment, Collaboration, Communication, Community and Compassion

Compensation:

The expected hiring rate for this position is $17.56/hour
