Position summary

We are seeking a full time Laboratory Analyst to perform mold identification and asbestos analysis. This role involves hands on microscopy, sample preparation, quality control activities and close collaboration with our experienced analytical team.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and analyze microbiological and fungal specimens using optical microscopy Cross train in the preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM and PCM Evaluate asbestos and non asbestos materials by determining visual percentages, optical properties and fiber characteristics Assist with laboratory operations including data entry, sample review, equipment maintenance and calibration Perform QA/QC activities in accordance with the company QA/QC manual Maintain accurate records, support turnaround time expectations and contribute to a clean and organized laboratory environment

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Life Science, Environmental Science, Geology or a related field Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with strong multitasking skills Ability to distinguish colors for accurate analytical interpretation Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with typing and Microsoft Office Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Willingness to work additional hours or occasional weekends to meet business needs Preferred: experience with asbestos PLM or PCM analysis or mycology or mold identification

Schedule

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On site at IMS Laboratory

Pay: $14.00 - $40.00 per hour
