Silver Branch Brewing Company is looking for a few driven multitaskers to join our team as Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner. This entry-level position is great for those who are looking to get their foot in the door in the food and beverage industry. An integral part of providing excellent service, the Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner must be able to serve beverages and food to guests while also maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for a hospitable guest experience. Candidates with a strong work ethic and those that can move at a fast pace will thrive in this role.
Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner
This position requires you to be capable of completing various tasks in a timely manner while maintaining attention to detail with little direction. The Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner is expected to listen to learn where the food needs to go and will also communicate with the customers whether it's announcing the food, checking on their satisfaction, or taking an impromptu request. You will maintain the cleanliness of the expo line, organize order tickets, and communicate effectively with the Kitchen team. The Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner will also be responsible for the initial expediting of carryout and catering orders. In the Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner role, you will clear tables, organize silverware, assess if menus are reusable and toss menus that are dirty, ripped, inaccurate, etc. As the job title suggests, you will find out that the Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner position has multiple roles to assume. Core responsibilities include and are not limited to; running drink and food orders, bussing tables, basic prep/cooking, cleaning, organizing the beer to go fridge, fulfilling online orders, polishing silverware and glassware, making salad and scooping ice cream, and doing whatever is necessary to maintain the flow of service at the bar and in the kitchen.
Kitchen Support/Barback/Runner Responsibilities
Deliver amazing guest experiences with strong knowledge of our offerings and a welcoming, friendly demeanor
Prepare recipes to order for timing, quality, and consistency
Maintain a clean, safe, stocked, and organized workstation according to company standards, health department regulations and manufacturer specifications
Participate in team tasks including but not limited to: cleaning and organizing, opening the kitchen, receiving orders, etc.
Expo and run food to tables when busy and manage pick-up window
Operate dish machines, support glass washing, and polishing of silverware and glassware
Basic cooking skills such as making salad and scooping ice cream
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Complete other duties as assigned in support of the business
Assist with catering events as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
Proven work experience in a commercial kitchen/restaurant preferred
Pizza experience is a bonus
Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, high volume environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
Basic cooking skills such as operating the Turbo Chef to make wings and pretzels preferred
Available to work a variety of hours including weekends
Ability to communicate in English
Physical Requirements
Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach and squat on a frequent basis to receive and store stock, supplies and equipment as well as to work the line during service periods
Can meet physical demands of position including pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, standing for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift, handle, carry food, smallware's, equipment, supplies and paper goods at a minimum of 50 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
* Must be able to work in an environment subject to extreme cold 30 degrees, heat temperatures above 100 degrees, loud noises from restaurant equipment and machinery, and fumes
