Job Summary


Lyons Locale, a wine bar and bistro looking for experienced skilled kitchen staff to help create our expanded food program and lead kitchen operations to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen during service hours. Having opened over 4 months ago we have developed a solid cliental an are known for a great wine list and delicious cocktails and food. This winter and spring we are looking to expand to being open for dinner service 5 days a week (from our current 4 days a week) and in April we plan to open earlier on Saturdays and Sunday for brunch/ lunch options. In the near term, we are planning small changes to our current menu and adding 2-4 main dishes that are mediterranean and Italian inspired.

This role will be leading the food program as lead kitchen staff, assisting with food preparation, leading kitchen operations during service, cooking made to order food with an eye for details for creating attractive plates with a menu that will be bistro style focused on mediterranean and Italian. The staff structure is that the owners of the restaurant are heavily involved in menu development, managing the inventory and ordering, doing the preparation before service. This position would be the lead kitchen staff during service, ensuring high quality preparation and there will be additional kitchen staff on schedule our busy nights to support service.

The presentation is as important as the deliciousness of our creations, therefore kitchen staff must take pride in their creations and strive for creating beautiful food. Additional tasks to running the food program during service is monitoring food inventory and communicating to owners supply needs. Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen through dishwashing, sanitizing utensils and equipment nightly. Maintaining cleanliness and ensuring food safety is a must.

Staff is expected to be a team player, effective communicators to the bar manager and kitchen staff to make sure customers enjoy their experience. Contributing to growing the clientele through supporting social media opportunities, creating event ideas, supporting menu development for our monthly food and wine pairing dinners.

We will compensate at a $17/hour base rate. Lyons Locale has a 3% universal service charge added to every dining service bill on food and drinks that is dedicated to the kitchen staff on schedule that night. Staff will be cross-trained in other positions to help fill in where and when needed. We expect the hourly rate to be between $17-$30 an hour.

Schedule for this position for the near term would be Wednesday- Saturday 3pm-9pm, Sundays 1:30pm-7:30pm.

Duties



Preparing kitchen for service Preparing ingredients by slicing, chopping and measuring items. Preparing food as ordered. Plating menu items as they are ordered for in dining consumers Reading tickets and occasionally running food from kitchen to correct table Tracking freshness of all ingredients, monitoring and communicating food inventory needs. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including sanitizing utensils and equipment Keep dishes washed and steady supply for consumers Support keeping the dining area and patio clean and tidy throughout the day Follow all relevant health department regulations and internal standard operating procedures Provide excellent customer service to guests Provide social media support

Experience



Proven work experience as kitchen staff

Staff Structure:



This lead kitchen staff position is expect to work Wednesday- Saturday 3pm-9pm, and Sunday 1:30pm-7:30pm.

Additional kitchen staff will be supporting kitchen operations during the day doing preparation, inventory and stocking.

A second kitchen staff will be in the kitchen supporting this lead position's work on Fridays and Saturday, opening the kitchen and leading the service until dinner service begins.
