The Bakery Porter is a key support role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and smooth daily operation of the bakery. This position ensures that bakers and production staff can work efficiently by managing dishes, equipment, trash, storage areas, restocking, and general facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment.
Production Support
Keep all workstations clear of dirty tools and equipment throughout service and production.
Wash, sanitize, and properly store sheet trays, bowls, utensils, attachments, Cambros, pastry tools, and all other equipment.
Maintain steady dish rotation to prevent bottlenecks for pastry and bread teams.
Assist bakers with basic prep tasks as needed (e.g., peeling fruit, scaling ingredients, lining pans).
Restock essential items such as parchment, liners, garbage bags, gloves, Cambros, towels, sanitizer buckets, and cleaning supplies.
Cleanliness & Sanitation
Clean and sanitize sinks, counters, worktables, and equipment surfaces.
Sweep and mop bakery floors several times per shift, particularly during high-crumb or high-flour activity.
Clean ovens and racks as directed (no gas or mechanical service required).
Maintain cleanliness of the dish area, including drains, walls, racks, and shelves.
Take out trash, compost, and recycling routinely and ensure all bins are washed and odor-free.
Maintain compliance with all health department standards and internal sanitation checklists.
Organization
Assist with daily opening and/or closing routines, depending on shift.
Organize storage areas (dry, walk-in, freezer) with correct labeling and rotation (FIFO).
Break down cardboard and manage waste streams efficiently.
Ensure delivery areas, hallways, and shared spaces remain clear and safe.
Equipment Care
Properly clean mixers, bowls, whisks, induction tools, food processors, and small wares without damaging them.
Alert management immediately if equipment appears damaged or unsafe.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
